Matt Muehlebach had 21 points and the Arizona defense stifled 16th-ranked Oregon State and Gary Payton to earn a share of the Pac-10 title with the Beavers in the last game at McKale that season. Muehlebach (5-of-9 three-pointers) and Matt Othick (4 of 4) outplayed Payton on the perimeter as the Beavers’ star was held to only five points, breaking a streak of 50 consecutive games in double figures. Othick recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists.

Matt Othick posted a double-double (13 points and 10 assists) in Arizona’s 87-60 win over Oregon State and Gary Payton in 1990 when the Wildcats increased their McKale Center winning streak to 47 games.
Chris Mills led Arizona with 17 points in his first game with the Wildcats in 1990, a season-opening 122-80 win over Austin Peay, increasing the Wildcats’ McKale Center winning streak to 48 games.

Three newcomers to the program — Chris Mills (Kentucky transfer) and freshmen Khalid Reeves and Deron Johnson — had an impact on No. 3-ranked Arizona’s 1990-91 season opener. Mills led the Wildcats with 17 points, Reeves led in assists (nine) and Johnson, a Sunnyside grad, had a team-high seven rebounds to go with 16 points. The game, which featured 33 assists by Arizona, was a first-round matchup in the Preseason NIT.
