The Pac-12 Networks offered a nugget of Allonzo Trier news on Saturday night, when reporter Jill Savage passed along encouraging words from an off-camera conversation with Sean Miller.
She said that Miller told her that he “does believe that Trier will play at some time this season.”
Asked to follow-up on that sentiment Monday, Miller was more cautious.
“I’ll just say I hope Allonzo has an opportunity to play sometime this year. I’ll leave it at that,” Miller said.
He added a bit more.
“If I knew more, I would say,” Miller said. “If I was able to, I would say. But it is far, far higher up the ladder than me. I’m just a soldier in the army following orders.”

Trier, who averaged 14.8 points as a freshman guard last season, has not played this season because of unspecified eligibility issue.
The one thing to remember is that if Trier ever gets the word that he can play, he will be ready in an instant.
“The one thing I can comment on is he practices with us every day,” Miller said. “He’s in school. He’s doing a great job in school, as always.”
Arizona shows more depth in practice than it does in games, because it has Trier and transfer guard Dylan Smith available. Smith, who will have three seasons of eligibility at Arizona, is sitting out this season per NCAA rules after transferring from UNC Asheville.
“Dylan Smith and Allonzo practice every time we practice,” Miller said. “Both are quality players. They make that daily grind a lot more efficient, more highly competitive.”
