Tucson heads to American Legion Western Regional semifinals

AMERICAN LEGION WEST REGION

Tucson Firebirds Post 7 beat Greeley, Colorado 3-1 on Friday night to advance to the semifinal round of the American Legion West Region Tournament taking place in Denver.

Tucson (2-1) will face Nevada (3-0) Saturday night for a shot at the championship final scheduled for Sunday. Texas (2-1) and California (2-1) are playing each other in the other semifinal game. Two of Nevada’s wins came against California and Texas.

David Kelch went 3-for-3 against Greeley with a triple and Mario Bejarano went seven innings, giving up one hit while collecting six strikeouts. Efrain Cervantes and Andre Greene picked up RBIs for Tucson.

After three games, Ryan Grabosch leads the team with six RBI and Daniel Durazo has five. Kelch is 8-10 (.800) with seven runs scored.
