Arizona Wildcats Tweets: Steve Kerr next Knicks coach?

Multiple reports yesterday suggested Arizona Wildcats legend Steve Kerr will become the next New York Knicks head coach after Phil Jackson is hired to take control of the team’s front office. Kerr, who played for Jackson for five seasons with the Chicago Bulls, would become the third former Arizona player to coach/manage a team in a major professional league. Terry Francona and Brad Mills are the others. Francona, manager of the Cleveland Indians, also managed Boston to two World Series titles and began his managerial career with Philadelphia. Mills, the third base coach with the Indians, managed Houston from 2010-12.

Sean Miller is in his 10th season as a head coach (five at Xavier and five with Arizona). He aims for his first Final Four berth this season after two Elite Eights. By the way, Lon Kruger has advanced to the Final Four with Florida in 1994, the same year Damon Stoudamire, Khalid Reeves, Joseph Blair and Co., took Arizona that far.

Arizona is favored to win the Pac-12 tournament to the degree that you win less than what you put down by placing a wager on them in Vegas with 5/6 odds. That seems extreme to me, but then again, the Wildcats won the league by three games and were the only team to be ranked throughout the season.

Miller tells “The Voice of the Wildcats”, Brian Jeffries, Arizona’s routine this week leading up to noon tomorrow.

Las Vegas is such a natural place to hold the Pac-12 tournament as a popular destination. You have to wonder why it took so long for the conference to realize this.

ICYMI (In case you missed it, to all you Twitter newbies): Nick Johnson was selected a Sporting News All-American on Monday. He becomes the 12 Arizona player to be selected a first-team All-American by a major media outlet. Can you name the previous 11 (Answer below)?
