[tps_header]1999 Third-Team All-American[/tps_header]
Trung Canidate is the lone All-American on this list that achieved his accolades after suffering a serious injury.
When running back Leon Callen went down with a knee injury in the spring of 1997, Canidate moved up the depth chart as a sophomore. He ran for 911 yards and five touchdowns that year but missed three games with a nagging foot injury.
Canidate was forced to have off-season surgery in 1998, which kept him out of spring drills and preseason training. He missed the season opener at Hawaii, but had a breakout game against Stanford. He gained 110 yards only three weeks after his cast was removed.
Once healthy, Canidate led the Pac-10 with 1,220 yards on 167 carries in 1998. He rushed for 1,602 on 253 carries as a senior.
