AllSportsTucson.com is running a series of brief stories about Southern Arizona high school senior student-athletes entering this school year. The series, first-person accounts from the student-athletes, starts with a profile on Ironwood Ridge senior volleyball player Alyssa Feltman.
Alyssa Feltman
School: Ironwood Ridge
Commitment: Arizona sand volleyball
Honors/Background: 2019 All-Southern Arizona selection. Placed in doubles in AAU Sand Volleyball Winter Qualifier in February. Regional and national competitor since 2018.
I started playing indoor volleyball when I was 10 for fun and fell in love with the sport. Ever since, I kept playing for club and school.
I started off as a middle and moved to the outside where I felt most comfortable. After my club season when I was 14, I knew I wanted to go as far as I could playing volleyball.
My freshman year, Ironwood Ridge got brand new sand courts and I decided to try sand. The next year, I switched to just sand. Indoor for me now is still so much fun and I have come so far as a player.
My greatest hope for 2020-2021 is getting better as a player and teammate on the court, getting stronger and performing my best for my last year.
This year what I like most about our team is our chemistry since we have been playing with each other for a while now. I can’t wait to see what we do and I wouldn’t want to finish with anyone else.
My future goals beyond school are to continue my game in sand and continue to be the best I can be.
