Sunnyside High School state-champion wrestlers Jaime Rivera Jr. and Rene Fragoso — both of whom recently signed with Division I wrestling programs — are hosting a wrestling clinic at Sunnyside on July 5 and 6.
Rivera is a three-time state champion who signed with West Point and Fragoso is a two-time state titlist headed for Arizona State.
The clinic, that runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., is open for wrestlers of all ages, including kindergarten through 12th grade students and adult men and women. The fee is $20 per day or $35 for both days.
People can register for the clinic by clicking here and filling out the form.
“This camp is a great wrestling experience for athletes of all ages and levels to come out and learn some high level technique from two Division I, outgoing seniors that want to give back to the kids!” Rivera mentioned in a text message. “Summer wrestlers make winter champions and we want to make that abundantly clear!! The work you put in will show! What’s done in the dark, will soon come to light!”
Fragoso stated: “At Sunnyside, we feel as if it’s important to give back to the community and help the younger generation of kids learn the proper ways of wrestling! They will be the future of Sunnyside wrestling and it’s important to keep the legacy and tradition going! Jaime and I can offer high-level techniques to all athletes!”
Sunnyside High School is located at 1725 E. Bilby Road in Tucson.
