Marana (West U.S.) will look to regroup in pool play at the Junior League Softball World Series after losing to Milford, Conn. (East U.S.) by a score of 15-0 in four innings Monday at Kirkland, Wash.
Marana next plays Prague, Czech Republic (Europe-Africa) at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday on ESPN+.
Marana is 1-1 in Pool B with two more games remaining before the eight-team single-elimination bracket begins Thursday. The top four teams in each pool qualify for the bracket.
Milford and Sealy, Texas (Southwest U.S.), are 2-0 while Prague and Mexico City (Latin America) are 0-2 in Pool B. A win by Marana on Tuesday will assure that it won’t finish in last place behind Prague in pool play, thereby qualifying the team for the final bracket.
Addie Angell and Aubriana Gray had Marana’s two hits against Milford’s Abigail Corris, who struck out five with no walks in four innings.
Milford scored six runs in the third inning and eighth in the fourth to pull away.
