Thornydale Junior League softball advanced to the championship round of the West Region Tournament at Arthur Pack at the end of July largely behind the production of standout Kenzie Scott.
The heroine of last year’s Thornydale Little League team that reached the West Region championship at San Bernardino, Calif., Scott was practically unstoppable at the plate this summer.
She was 10 of 20 (.500) in Thornydale’s seven games at Arthur Pack with half of those hits being home runs. Along with her five home runs, she had two doubles and produced 16 RBIs.
Scott also won her lone appearance in the circle in the opening win over Mesa, not allowing an earned run in 3 1/3 innings.
Thornydale advanced to the championship round against Northern California after going on a run in the elimination bracket.
Scott is a freshman at Mountain View heading into her first high school season this spring.
Her MVP-worthy performance at Arthur Pack in the West Region Tournament merits her Jet Sports Training Female Athlete of the Month.
