Former Salpointe standouts, wide receiver RJ Gory and running back Chris Chaney, are no longer with the Lancers for their senior season after they were All-6A Southern second-team selections last season. Gory transferred to Queen Creek Casteel and Chaney to Chandler Basha. First-team picks, nose guard Noah Bahnie and offensive lineman Joshua Meisner, exhausted their eligibility.

Rushing had a strong sophomore-to-junior season and finished as Salpointe’s No. 2 receiver behind Gory.

The 17.3-yard average is particularly notable. Rushing can be a high-volume receiver.

Recruiting

He is a three-star Class of 2027 receiver and committed to Kansas State on April 20. Rivals lists him at No. 132 nationally among receivers and No. 20 in Arizona, with an industry rating of 84.67. His recruitment has attracted attention because of his combination of size, athleticism and explosiveness. Prep Redzone describes him as a dynamic receiver with strong body control and the ability to attack the ball in the air despite not being the biggest receiver on the field.

Family football background

Rushing comes from a notable football family. His father, George Rushing, played tight end at Florida, while his older brothers include Cruz Rushing, who played safety, and Elijah Rushing, a highly regarded defensive lineman. Cruz and Elijah are both at Oregon.
