CDO dual-threat quarterback Montana Neustadter announced his commitment Monday to Division II program Adams State at Alamosa, Colo.
Neustadter, listed at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, is the 40th local Class of 2021 prospect to make a commitment or sign with a college.
He passed for 785 yards and rushed for 883 yards in 14 games in his career.

“I have been talking with (assistant) coach (Kai) Ellis for about 2-3 months now and we had built a good connection over the phone and over text,” Neustadter said of Adams State’s defensive line coach who excelled as a player at Washington. “I’ve always been drawn to Colorado because of how beautiful the state is and how nice the weather is compared to Arizona.
“When we first came into Alamosa I instantly liked the small-town feeling and how much outdoorsy stuff there is to do. When I first stepped on campus, I could definitely see myself calling the school home for the next four years. It’s really hard to explain the exact feeling I had but all I can say is that as soon as I stepped foot on that green turf it felt like home and I just knew that I was going to be a Grizzly.”
Neustadter was starting to come into his own as a passing quarterback before COVID-19 limited the Dorados to three games last season. He completed 17 of 39 passes for 277 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
In 11 games during his junior season, Montana passed for 508 yards while completing 38 of 85 passes with five touchdowns and one interception.
Neustadter plans to study engineering within Adam State’s pre-engineering program.
He said that although he is committed to Adams State, he will still participate in the Southern Arizona Football All-Star Showcase at Tucson High on June 4.
