Jet Sports Training Female Athlete of the Month: Catalina Foothills volleyball alum Lauren Rumel

Catalina Foothills graduate Lauren Rumel, an outside hitter at Oregon State, won a gold medal with Team USA’s U23 squad at the NORCECA U23 Pan American Championships, with the final match held Aug. 1.

Rumel, a Class of 2022 graduate at Catalina Foothills, was was the only WCC player selected to the U.S. team.

She had nine points (eight kills and an assist) in a sweep of Suriname to help Team USA stay perfect in pool play.

Rumel began her collegiate career at Arizona in 2022 but decided to transfer after David Rubio retired. She will face the Wildcats on Thursday at Boise, Idaho, in the Boise State Classic.

Her accomplishments at Catalina Foothills:
• Four-time All-Southern Arizona (AllSportsTucson.com)
• Second all-time in Southern Arizona with 1,227 kills
• Led the state of Arizona – across all divisions – with 628 kills in her senior season
• Helped lead team to Southern Arizona Sonoran Region title in senior season
• 5A Sonoran Player of the Year as senior

• 4A Kino Offensive Player of the Year
• 2018 Southern Arizona Freshman of the Year (AllSportsTucson.com)
