Salpointe freshman quarterback Isla Collins, an esteemed Team USA member for her age group, was essential in the Lancers going 16-1 with a 4A state championship in their first year of flag-football competition.
Collins had 124 yards passing and 105 yards rushing with two touchdowns in the 17-0 win over Mesa Eastmark in the championship game Nov. 22 at Corona del Sol in Tempe.
Collins, 14, has been playing flag football for half of her young life. At eight years old, Collins won the NFL Flag National Championship at the 10U level in Orlando. She played against boys, because at that time, no all-girls teams existed nationally.
She played at the club level for the powerhouse Tucson Turf Elite program under coach Toby Bourguet, who coached her at the 14U girls’ level in the 2024 Select Bowl.

Collins completed 220 of 290 pass attempts for 2,319 yards with 49 touchdowns and three interceptions this season. She also rushed for 841 yards on 74 attempts with 10 touchdowns.
For her ability to lead Salpointe to four postseason wins in November, including the state championship over Eastmark, Collins is the Jet Sports Training Female Athlete of the Month for November.
