As the above photo suggests, Tayrne Mowatt deserves consideration for the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame for her individual exploits for Mike Candrea’s program.

She is already a part of the school’s hall of fame as a member of the 2006 and 2007 national championship teams. What should put Mowatt in the hall individually is what she did to earn Arizona the 2007 national title.

Mowatt earned ESPN’s Best Female Athlete and Best Female College Athlete awards in 2007 after she set the Women’s College World Series records for wins (six) and strikeouts (76). She pitched four shutouts and was selected the tournament’s “Most Outstanding Player”.

She went on to play professionally for three seasons in the National Pro Fastpitch League.
